Founded in 1985, ALA provides professional services in structural, civil, and hydraulic engineering and in environmental studies and documentation to a wide range of clients in the public sector. Job Requirements:

This position requires a BSCE degree (MSCE preferred) with an emphasis in structures. Applicant must also have passed the E.I.T. exam. P.E. license a plus. The position responsibilities include the application of structural engineering and detailing techniques in the development of contract documents for all types of highway structures including bridges, retaining walls, drainage structures and noise walls. Job responsibilities may also include hands-on condition inspection of highway structures. Knowledge of specialized structural design software such as STAAD or SAP 2000, Merlin-Dash, DESCUS, and other similar software is a plus. Familiarity with CADD software such as Microstation and AutoCAD is preferred. Familiarity with structural design standards such as VDOT, MDSHA or others highway agencies is a plus. Applicant should be able to work well in a team environment and have good communication skills. This person will work under the direction of a registered professional engineer on a wide variety of projects from small stream crossings to major interchange structures.

Education:

BS in Civil Engineering

Experience:

1 to 5 years experience a plus.
